This is my Story...
I started in February 2020 as a learner with no work experience. I remember my first day when I went to the field and got rejected by customers. It was painful, to the point where I wanted to quit, but under the mentorship of Queen and Justice I overcame the challenges. By completing my learnership, I have gained customer service and field sales skills with a bit of admin. I was them promoted to a temporary U-Belong sales supervisor.
After 6 months of hard work and dedication, I got a permanent position as a U-Belong sales supervisor. When I started with U-Belong it was the most challenging experience ever because we were in new territory, but with guidance from management team we are continually growing and improving month to month. It is impossible to get a job in this country without experience, but the company took a risk when they hired me. I am grateful for the opportunity
Who are we?
U-Belong is an exciting and dynamic Learnership and Development program hosted by T3 Telecoms SA, a distribution and technology company in South Africa that provides a wide range of telecommunications products and services to both formal and informal markets.
Launched in August 2021, the programme focuses on job creation, education and inspiring entrepreneurship among young agents. Since its inception, U-belong has successfully employed over 10,000 driven young individuals across South Africa.
The core objective of the U-Belong programme is to upskill participants in Sales and Operational selling skills, ensuring that individuals who were previously unemployed gain the ability to sustain and maintain a stable monthly income. Through this, the programme plays a vital role in integrating participants into the mainstream economy.
What began in Gauteng with the first group of agents has now expanded to almost all provinces, with teams growing rapidly within each region.
U-Belong remains committed to making a positive social and economic impact within South Africa’s informal youth sector, fostering growth, empowerment and long-term opportunities.
